If you’ve invested in a touring caravan, you should look forward to many years of use out of it. But in order to make sure that it lasts well, you need to have a regular maintenance schedule in place, and be sure to get it fully tested at least once a year.

A caravan is a road vehicle. As such you are under a legal obligation to keep it roadworthy, so an annual service to check the brakes and light and running gear is essential. Other things included in an annual service are checks on the water, electrical, gas and heating systems inside the caravan. A full service will also include a check for any damage or leaks to the structure of the vehicle.

Whenever your caravan is being towed, you are legally obliged to have it covered by insurance. This can be an extension of your car insurance, or you can take out separate caravan insurance. There are different levels of policy available you’ll get further information on an insurance for caravan website.

Getting comprehensive caravan insurance will also insure you against any liability claims – should your caravan cause any damage to property or injury to a person. It also includes contents cover for the possessions you have inside the caravan. With more than 3,000 caravans being stolen or damaged every year in the UK, it’s not worth running the risk of being without insurance.

In a similar way, it’s also important to get any cover for static caravans. You can find information on different holiday home insurance policies on this park home website.

Camping and caravanning can be a great way to spend your holidays. It can be economical as well as fun. However, making sure you have the right insurance cover will give that added feeling of financial security to your holiday plans.

If you decide to refurbish your living room, it’s often ends up that you change everything. You paint or paper the walls with a fresh new colour you change the carpet for a nice new one. And you get a whole new lot of furniture to go in the newly decorated space.
The trouble is that when you do everything at once, it can end up costing far more than you’ve got in the budget for that month. Fortunately, many of the furniture stores on the high street offer payment plans to help make buying lots of new furniture affordable. And even better, most of these plans are interest free. It’s simply a way of spreading the payment over a period of months or even a couple of years, without having to pay all at once, or pay interest.

For example, you can buy an interest free sofa interest free sofa at Harveys and depending on how much you spend, the period of interest free credit increases. If you spend more than £1000, you get 12 months interest free. Purchases over £1500 will give you 24 months of interest free payments. And if you spend more than £1700, you can spread the payment over three whole years interest free.

The knowledge that you can buy more expensive items interest free may mean that you choose to spend more than if you had to pay all at once. For example, you might treat yourself to the recliner chairs that seemed a little out of your price range if you can spread the payments over a year or more.

The best thing to do is to decide exactly what you want to change and then work out the budget for the whole thing. From there you can decide how to buy the items and choose whether you will pay upfront or spread the payments over a longer period.

A survey of over 200 car executives carried out by KPMG early this year revealed that in-car internet access will soon be a normal reality. Just as we can all have a satellite navigation system, soon we will all be able to get online while on the move and behind the wheel.

According to those surveyed, it is developments in speech recognition and improved wifi access which will make it possible to get internet access in the car.

Over a third of those questioned felt that ‘infotainment’ had become as important to car drivers as the safety features in a car. And with this development, the participants in the survey saw further closer collaboration between IT, music and telecommunications companies and car manufacturers.

For example, Audi has already got 3G wireless built into its A7 and will make this a standard feature in other models. Companies like Google, Microsoft and Apple will supply gadgets to be in-car. Already Google supplies the satellite navigation system and internet access facilities in the Tesla Model S – a fully electric family car which will be on the road in the US this year.

John Leech from KPMG said: “Intel claims that the connected car is the third-fastest growing technological device, following smartphones and tablets. For a car maker that offers huge potential.”

More than half of the survey respondents (53%) also predicted that investment will continue for hybrid technology during the next five years. Only a few years ago, Honda and Toyota were alone in producing hybrid cars; now every major manufacturer has at least one or two hybrids in their range of cars.

Although there’s confidence that the range of eco cars UK drivers can buy will increase, almost two thirds of the respondents thought that conventional petrol and diesel engines would still remain popular due to their improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

If you’ve gone from working as an employee to working for yourself – either freelance or with your own business, you’ll realise that there are pros and cons to this new arrangement.

Working for yourself, you’ll have discovered that the buck stops with you – quite literally. Not only do you take on ultimate responsibility for your business, but you also lose out on the all the perks and benefits associated with being an employee. Although as an employee you may have got private health insurance and other benefits, working for yourself all of these extras will have to come out of your own pocket.

Of course, there are many advantages to being self-employed. For some it’s more motivating, because your achievements will all be for the benefit of you and your family, and you won’t just be running yourself ragged for a big corporate machine. You also get to choose what hours you work and when you take time off. You don’t have to answer to anyone but yourself (and maybe your accountant!).

But with such freedoms, you should take protecting your family and your own future income seriously. For example, if you had a debilitating illness that meant you were unable to work, then your income would just stop. The way around this is to get some insurance cover.

There are different insurance policies to cover different scenarios, including critical illness cover and income protection insurance. And in the case of your death, life insurance cover could provide an income for your dependants. There are lots of different life insurance policies available, but although you might be lured by cheap premiums, it’s important to check all the details and see exactly what a policy will cover you for.

It also depends on where you live. The prices for policies depend on which country you live and work in. If you’re looking for cheap life insurance Australia has some great deals through companies such as www.suncorp.com.au which specialises in insurance and banking. Some life insurance policies work out to as little as $3 a week – less than the price of a sandwich – which seems like a really low price to pay for protecting your loved ones.

If you’ve been charged with organising a conference for the business you work for, it can be a real challenge to make it a success.

Everyone has been to conferences that have been disappointing or dull, and the really great business conferences are few and far between. Even if you’re a seasoned conference delegate, you can probably count the number of great conferences that you’ve been to on the fingers of one hand.

How then, do this minority of conferences get lifted up into a different level above the rest? Organisation is key as, of course, is decent investment and a good infrastructure. Good speakers are essential. But something that can really give a conference a wow factor is the venue.

Venue finding has become a full time profession for some people – and they are often willing to provide these services for free. They make their money out of the connections they have with the owners of the venues for hire and the suppliers like caterers and other facilities providers who work at the events held at the venues.

There is nothing wrong in using these professionals. For one thing, it will make the searching of different conference venues a lot easier. It will mean you have to do far less legwork and in fact, all you should need to do is thoroughly brief the venue finder, so that they have a clear understanding of your expectations. You should also be clear about the budget you have to spend on the event, and be prepared to trust their judgement. Get them to whittle the suitable venues down to a shortlist and you can go and view these to make the final choice.

Once you’ve got the venue sorted out, the rest of the organisation should follow smoothly, particularly if you engage conference organisers to sort out all those minor details that will cause you sleepless nights leading up to a conference date, but are just routine for seasoned professionals.

Internet security is a vital part of any business, small or large. For most businesses today, the majority of transactions are carried out on the internet, whether that’s managing the bank accounts, taking payments or dealing with enquiries or orders.

It’s important, therefore, that all the sensitive and financial information about your company and your customers’ information that you hold on your business computers is protected from potential attack by viruses and Trojans scripted by hackers and then released onto the internet.

Hackers don’t target a particular size of business – the viruses are written to infiltrate anywhere that there is no antivirus software in place to defend from this kind of attack. A virus can cause untold levels of damage to a computer system – one attack could render the whole network of business computers useless.

As well as protecting against viruses, internet security suites can also contain features to reduce phishing campaigns. Phishing is where fraudulent emails request your passwords or login details. As well as relying on internet security to prevent phishing emails from arriving in your inbox, you have to apply an amount of common sense to recognise and ignore such fraudulent requests. No trustworthy source will ask for this kind of information.

So, if you haven’t got antivirus software already, it’s vital to get some sorted for your business straightaway. Fortunately, there are many free antivirus downloads available, and you can download one of these immediately, while you do some further research on exactly what kind of package you want for your business.

Most business internet security packages will have licenses for five or more users. The advantage of paying for a business package is that you can control the software on one pc or device, rather than having to do separate updates and renewals for each pc that the business owns or uses.

All of the main suppliers of internet security offer a business package for antivirus, anti-spyware and anti-phishing, as well as a firewall. Do a comparison on price and what the cover provides, and then download a trial version to see how a particular package works for your business computer network.

Many business people are interested in driving a hybrid car and there was a time that it only suited certain people. If you had more than four passengers, then choosing a hybrid was out of the question. However, this has now changed – as more and more manufacturers increase the hybrid cars that they have within their portfolio.

There are plenty of hatchback hybrids on the road, though if you’re looking for a saloon car that is also a hybrid the choice is more limited. Around the world, manufacturers like Ford, Toyota, Peugeot and Honda all have hybrid minivans either already launched or about to be launched. Toyota introduced the Prius + in the US last year, and it’s due to be on European roads in 2012.

Seven-seater hybrids would seem to be the perfect solution for those drivers with large families who also have a green conscience.

And another option for those with more than three children is the soon to be launched Tesla Model S. This all-electric vehicle has room for seven and will come with three different battery options. Each battery offers a different range distance before needing recharging. The biggest battery will give a 300 mile range, the others offering 230 miles and 160 miles.

It’s supposed to get from 0-60 in less than five seconds, and with the battery being placed on the floor it will have a low centre of gravity, adding to the sporty nature of its driving. The batteries can be recharged in just one hour, making the idea of stopping for lunch while you let the battery recharge at a charging point more of a realistic possibility than with some existing EVs.

The Tesla Model S will have a starting price of around $60,000, with the top of the range priced at $80,000.

With the ever increasing reliance on the internet and email for business, there has been an inevitable rise in the attempts of unscrupulous people to steal our information and profit from any gaps in our internet security.

Pretty every much business owner realises the importance of good antivirus protection, but it is one of those things that you don’t always think about once you’ve installed it. For the main part, this doesn’t matter, you set it to run virus scans at a time that doesn’t intrude on work hours and it just does its work in the background. However, with some programmes, your subscription won’t be automatically at the end of the year or three year subscription. It’s up to you to make a note to do this in your diary.

If you haven’t yet got internet security sorted out, you should make this an absolute priority. While deciding which subscription you want to pay for, you can trial free antivirus downloads. These will allow you to see how a programme works and decide whether it has the functionality you’re looking for. Some antivirus programmes are available for free trial periods, others are just free, but don’t give you as much protection as pay-for subscriptions.

Kaspersky anti-virus software is available in a range of different products. Remember that Macs and mobile phones require different programmes to PCs. However, you can now get one license products that cover a number of different devices under one fee – usually a good option for a small business.

Once you have your antivirus software, you still need to run updates when you get prompts to do this. The antivirus software providers update new virus signatures as and when they have them and your software needs this information to do its job properly.

If you’re looking for great company cars for your business then look no further. The latest Honda car to go on sale in the UK is the new honda civic 2012. And although it remains true to the Civic heritage, it has undergone a few changes that improve on the last generation.

As well as a few adjustments on the exterior like the reduction of the overly large rear spoiler that its predecessor had, Honda has also made some improvements on the inside, with better quality materials and greater room for both the driver and passengers. It has Honda’s ‘magic seats’ in the back – which can flip and fold over to face in either direction, or allow the transport of taller objects than the already roomy boot can manage.

The dash is driver-orientated with the rev counter at the centre, and a digital speedometer, but the mix of analogue and digital displays may not appeal to everyone.

The diesel can get from 0-62 mph in 8.5 seconds and has a maximum speed of 135 mph. So far, there’s been no mention of the possibility of a Civic hybrid making it to the UK, although there is one in the States, as well as a natural gas version. However, the diesel is the most environmentally friendly of the three engine choices in the UK. The 2.2 litre engine emits a very low 110g/km of carbon dioxide, which means that the first year’s road tax is free and that for subsequent years it will only be £20.

The 1.8 litre petrol engine has a top speed of 134 mph and can get to 62 mph in 9.6 seconds. There’s also a 1.4 litre petrol engine and the petrol engines average between 44 and 53 miles per gallon.

All the Civic 2012 range is better on fuel economy because they are equipped with stop start technology and an ECON button which instructs the car’s systems to operate at an eco-friendly, fuel efficient optimum.

It remains to be seen how popular the new Honda Civic will be in the UK, if previous Civics are anything to go by, they’ll be flying out of the showrooms.

Starting your own business is an exciting time, for anyone, but it can also be fairly stressful as there are so many factors to take into consideration.

If you are considering setting up your business, there are several things you will have to bear in mind before you begin and the things you will have to think about will be dependent on the type of business you are planning to set up.

For anyone planning on setting up a business that involves a premises, such as a shop, an office or a factory, there are of course building considerations to take into account. If you are setting up your own shop, office, cafe or anywhere that employees, colleagues or potential customers will have to enter, you will need to take into account accessibility considerations.

Ensure that the premises of your new business are compliant with health and safety regulations and they allow access for less able-bodied people, in the form of wheelchair ramps, stair lifts and stair rails, for example. This is an especially important consideration if you are planning to open a customer-facing business such as a restaurant, shop or cafe, as you could risk losing valuable business if your premises are not accessible. But it is also important that you offer accessibility to potential staff to comply with employment discrimination laws.

If you invest the time and money in ensuring these factors are all covered off at the beginning, you can save yourself a lot of stress and hassle further down the line. It is much better to ensure that your business is accessible from the start than to wait until you are losing out on custom or faced with the potential threat of discrimination lawsuits further down the line. You can find accessibility products such as stair lifts at Homelifestairlifts.co.uk.
